My American Dream

You don’t “let opportunities happen”. The “let so and so have the same opportunities you had” mentality is the same lazy selfishness that leads to socialism and inevitable societal failure. Opportunities are not just something you hopefully sit and wish for; opportunities are created by the tireless search, the undying will, the desire to overcome and succeed. As any immigrant to the United States will tell you, the American dream is not given to you on a silver platter; it is not handed to you when you walk through the door; it is not handed to you by your parents or anyone else. The American Dream is what you make of it. The American Dream is standing up against all opposition and doing what you want to do, pursue what you wish to pursue, and regardless of what holds you back, you keep going where you want to because that is your freedom, your decision, your goal, your dream. That is the American Dream
